Tip #1 Need Help with Sleep?

Try 200-400mg of Magnesium and 3000mg of Taurine at bedtime

Magnesium and taurine boost GABA, a neurotransmitter that calms your brain. The combo is incredibly soothing and can improve sleep, mood, and even hot flashes. This is a particularly nice combination during peri-menopause and menopause. Not to mention, magnesium does it all. It helps you poop regularly, it relieves muscle cramps, it reduces anxiety and can help with sugar balance. What can it NOT do? But here’s the thing.  Using a cheap versus a quality form of Magnesium is like the difference between wearing a shoe your 3rd grader crocheted in art class versus a Jimmy Choo strappy sandal. Which do YOU want to use?  Well, my feet might welcome the likes of a mitten thanks to my bunion the size of Spain, but I digress.

Avoid the magnesium oxide products as they don’t absorb that well and may give you diarrhea.  For some, it may be a welcome relief for constipation.  For others, not so much.  Look for magnesium citramate, glycinate, threonate — those are generally better quality and work great.  If oral magnesium doesn’t work for your digestive system, then try a topical form like Ancient Minerals magnesium oil. This is great for kids at bedtime.  Rub some on the soles of their feet.

Tip#2:  Sleep Bonus! Consider adding 50 mg of vitamin B6 to boost your internal GABA

This may help both your sleep AND your mood.  You must try this for at least 4 weeks to see if this will help with sleep. By the way, high doses of B6 can tame histamine reactions, so if you are allergic or get runny nose when you eat certain foods, give it a go.
