Though formally trained as an MD specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology, I have deepened and expanded my medical training to incorporate functional medicine healing practices. The beauty of integrative and functional medicine practice is the ability to take conventional medical training, with its modern understanding of the human body and emphasis on pharmacologic and surgical therapeutic techniques, and integrate it with the emerging paradigm of “root cause” analysis. It is not simply using non-conventional healing philosophies to “complement” medical practice or to use them as an “alternative” to conventional medicine, but to seamlessly connect these practices to best treat the individual.
